Parish Council object to Asda extension plans
Asda have submitted plans to build an extension to the front of their Barkby Thorpe Lane store to provide an extra 465m² of retail space.
It is planned to move the cafe into this extension with the resulting space available
to improve both the food and non-
As part of the application, Asda are proposing to widen the store’s exit road to accommodate an additional lane which will allow extra queuing capacity within Asda’s site and introducing ‘Keep Clear’ road markings on the roundabout on Barkby Thorpe Lane.
At their December meeting Thurmaston Parish Councillors voted to write to Charnwood Borough Council strongly opposing these proposals which would, in their opinion, create yet more traffic problems on Barkby Thorpe Lane.
Boxing makes an IMPACT
The first of the six weeks of boxing sessions for Thurmaston had a sensational start on Thursday 29th October in the Old School. Twenty young people were so keen that they were outside the door at 6pm for a 6:30 start!.....
Sheila and Eunice receive Awards
Thurmaston Parish Council awarded both Mrs Sheila Revell and Mrs Eunice Willis a Honourable Citizen Award for exemplary commitment to the community, having voluntarily managed the Senior Citizen’s Library every Monday afternoon for a commendable 25 years.
